Do you have to buy an oil press?
A household oil press is actually not necessary for most people. It is enough to go to the supermarket to buy bottled oil of a big brand. Brand oil is not only safe but also convenient. Extracting oil yourself is not only time-consuming and labor-intensive, but the safety of the extracted oil is not as good as that of brand oil. For example, if the raw materials are not well selected, there may be aflatoxin, and the oil extracted is more likely to deteriorate without treatment. So if you don't have specific needs, it's best not to buy a home oil press on impulse, otherwise it will easily become an expensive decoration. But it does work for some people. For example, some elderly people are not used to the brand oil from the supermarket, and they prefer this "authentic" feeling. Although the brand oil bought in the supermarket is safe, the factory has to go through operations such as refining to remove harmful components.
Refining is further divided into steps such as dehydration, degumming, deacidification, decolorization, deodorization, and dewaxing. Although the safety is guaranteed after a set of procedures, most of the flavors in the oil are also removed. Young people may not care, but some elderly people have been "old-fashioned oil extraction" for a lifetime, and they are not used to the tasteless brand oil. Therefore, many elderly people like to eat oil squeezed by small workshops, because it is indeed better than the oil produced by industrial mass production. I have also tried it, and the oil extracted from the small workshop is really much better. Especially the sesame sesame oil we use with a small mill here, I feel that the sesame oil sold in the supermarket has no taste at all. However, the hygiene of the small workshop cannot be guaranteed, and the raw materials will not be the best, and there may be mildew. The oil extracted in this way will contain carcinogenic aflatoxin, which is definitely not good for health if you eat it for a long time.
So whether or not you should buy an oil press depends on whether you have special needs in your home. For example, the situation in my family is quite special. The elderly in my family don't like the brand oil bought in the supermarket, and they eat the "old-fashioned oil extraction" from the small workshop every day. I often tell them that the popular science workshop is unsanitary and easy to cause cancer, but it is useless to persuade them many times. And not only did they eat it by themselves, but they often bought a large bucket for me to eat. So later, for their and my own health, I ended the history of eating small workshop oil for many years at home, and then I made up my mind to buy a household oil press. In addition, we grow a lot of walnuts and peanuts in our hometown, and we often give them to relatives and friends if we can’t finish them. It is also very cost-effective to use for oil extraction.
